Sibiu | From one world to another

By Cristina Radu

It is something very shocking in Sibiu concerning culture and people! Before you get to the historical centre, Sibiu appears like a poor city. When you arrive to the historical centre, you get into another world! The buildings are spectacular with an incredible arhitecture and beautiful people! I felt like I was in a SF movie… in every city I was, this two categories were combined, it was a balance between them. But not here! You pass suddenly from one world to another.

Food, Food, Food

If you stay somewhere where you have a kitchen and the possibility to cook, you can go to the supermarket and buy a lot of food for 2 persons for only 20 euros!

In the historical centre, I expected that a very small pizza costs 10 euros, but surprisingly, the prices are between 4 and 8 euros. I choose Einstein Caffe and Capriciosa pizza was so perfect!!! The spicy sauce is one of the spiciest I’ve ever tasted!

For tasty food, like your grandma does, I recommend Super Mamma where the food is excellent and the prices are super small. For dessert I suggest you to go to Donuterie where you can find a lot of donuts. I also recommend you to buy a box from them to keep your donuts, because if you drop the box accidentaly, donuts will remain inside the box.

What I visited, or better said, on which streets I got lost

Tower of the Great Square – the ticket cost was of 2 euros, I climbed more than 100 stairs, but it worth. When you get to the top of the tower, you can see through the windows the whole town and the main tourist attractions. So it is a really good start point.

Evangelical Church… WOW! I didn’t expect to be so spectacular! The architecture is remarkable! You can’t miss it! Something just fascinating for me was the wall full of stone sculptures. I thought it was purely decorative, but when I looked closer… there were graves from the 1500s, 1700s. It still remains fascinating, but a little bit weird.

P.S. You can climb the stairs to the top of the tower. I was too afraid to do it. Shhh, don’t tell anyone.

Of course, there are so many places that you could visit in Sibiu, but this time I just got lost on its beautiful streets. Next time, I will be more focused on the tourist attractions and I will be back with impressions here, on the blog. Pinky swear!
