BIAS 2018 | Aviation Show

By Cristina Radu

I don’t know how others found out about BIAS event, but I did it one day before. Of course, this did not stop me from putting myself on point and getting to it! So, the next day, around 6 in the evening I was in the BUS, waiting to get to the destination. The GPS is my best friend since I live in Bucharest and never lets me down. But this time it was different! Every time I was opening the location from Facebook page, another destination was shown up. Lucky me! People from the BUS were going to the same destination and all I needed to do was to pay attention to them.

When I got there, on the sky there was already the SAAB-39 Gripen model from Hungarian Air Force or F-18 Hornet model from Spanish Air Force. For me, the most important detail was that I felt how the ground was crumbling under me, and I had the instinct to catch something or someone to prevent me from falling down. All my organs were shaking when the plane was right above me. For the first time in my life, I felt something like that and no matter how crazy it would sound, I loved it! I loved it because from all those moments that I lived, those who put me in danger make me feel there one hundred percent.

I admired all pilots that made this show being possible, thinking all the time about what they felt, what they saw and what they heard at 1000 meters height.

Air Bandits was definitely the moment of the event! In just one second that seemed like the most normal second, I felt a wave of heat right in my face. And I was standing in the back of the crowd. It was an explosion. That moment made me realize that, no matter how much time we think we have… we don’t have it at all and we need to make every second to count.

The fireworks show was something spectacular that I only saw on TV, and “Zdob&Zdub” concert was the perfect connection with Romania.
