3 simple and quick summer snacks | No Bake

I love to cook, but I hate do to it in the summer because I don’t have air conditioning in my apartment and I don’t want to transform it into a sauna.

And every time my grandma is asking me what I ate I tell her that I just ate a sandwich. Every single time. Until I search for no bake recipes.

And let me tell you a secret… They aren’t too many! But here I am, presenting you 3 simple and quick summer snacks.

Fresh and Cold

Ingredients: one pita, one tomato, one pepper, one green onion, one yellow onion, a link of parsley, a link of dill, 1 tsp garlic powder ( or a simple garlic finely chopped) and 2-3 tbsp of sour cream.

The recipe is actually a mix of 3 recipes that I really love. The base is shawarma. Yes, I like shawarma. With everything! Extra onion and garlic. But this time I made a light version, for the summer. I kept the pita which I like to buy from Kaufland (where I usually do my food shopping), but you can buy it from anywhere.

For the filling I chose Pico de Gallo. Sounds very complicated but it is very easy to make. You need to take the tomato, the yellow onion, the pepper, the green onion and the link of parsley and to finely chop all. After that, you need to mix them into a bowl with ½ tsp garlic powder, salt and pepper. In the end, put it on the fridge for 30 minutes.

In the meantime, you can make the sauce, tzatziki. I make it like that: I blend the sour cream with the ½ tsp garlic powder and finely chopped dill. If you have a problem with tzatziki you can buy a garlic sauce from Carrefour. Is the best!

Now all you have to do is to put Pico de Gallo and the sauce on the pita!

Sweet as honey

Ingredients: waffles, fruits, honey

When I discovered the waffles I said that something so simple can’t be so good! But it is! Of course, first time I made them with Nutella and I ate that combination as the most refined dessert. But now, with a healthy lifestyle, I found the perfect alternative.

My favorite mix of fruits is between strawberries and bananas. But now strawberries are gone so I chose kiwi. All you have to do is to chop them and put it on the waffle with the honey on top.

Dragoș’s secret recipe

Ingredients: one pepper, one tomato, a piece of cheese

The last recipe is my cousin’s secret recipe. When we were kids, we were cleaning the yard and watching cartoons every day. And every day we ate fresh tomato and fresh pepper from the vegetable garden and on the good days, we were adding some cheese. One day, my cousin told me that he found a way to combine them like no one did it before.

He pulled out the seeds from the pepper, keeping its shape, he cut the tomato and the cheese diced and he started to put one layer of tomato and one layer of cheese inside the pepper until it was filled.

It does not look like the most incredible snack, but when you take a bite and those 3 tastes are combined… is really something! Thank you Dragoș, for one of a kind culinary heritage!
